A Little Inside work...
I had decided to attempt the upholstery work my self. I want to cover all of the plastic panels with a nice black vinyl. Also I installing a true bow style headliner. The real kicker is my attempt at the console. I have a 1964 Thunderbird console that is heavily modified. This too will be covered with the same vinyl and have some polished aluminum inserts. The console has been cut and spliced. The Thunderbird had a rear ashtray. I am deleting that and taking the door and hinge assembly and moving it to the front near the console lid. The forward part of the console will be the most modified. The Thunderbird's dash emerged from the console and looked as one unit. The rear portion other than being a little on the wide side looks to be a great fit. I widen the front of the console by about 2 or so inches and re shaped the extensions up to the dash. There will be a nice and open area for the Federal Signal Touchmater Delta Siren/Light control box. I know this is not correct for the car, I wanted the cleaner look with the function. The CB has yet to find a home, as well as the rifle lock. With the addition of the Thunderbird console I figured out late in the game there would be an issue with the parking brake handle. I need to complete the console portion before I attack that issue. I may modify the mountings and make it to the inner side of the driver seat between the console. That is still up in the air at this time. I am still up in the air about the media portion of the build. I really would like to install a Carputer in the trunk and have a 8" touch screen up front. It could control the radio and all MP3's, mobile internet would be a must at that point. If I did use a carputer in the trunk I could also link it to the ECU of the car to watch and adjust just about anything. Under the moved ash tray door will be a small switch panel that will control other accessories like the under glow and fog lights. I am taking my time in this part of the game. Better to think it all out and do it right the first time.

The bucket, the oil, and the spill
Well today started off on the wrong foot shal we say. Literally. While stepping over an engine block I had lost my footing and managed to step right into a 5 gallon bucket of used motor oil. The now newly oil painted everything took a little time to deal with. Filled the caddy up with a small scrap run to free me up some room. I did get 500 lbs into the trunk tho... The drive was white knuckle all of the way.
Anyhow..
I really think I got some stuff done today. The wiring harness on the driver side is all cleaned up nice and tidy. I had to move the starter solenoid several times due to definite future rubbing problems. Moving the wiring and all related is not really all that hard. Besides the other side of the inner fender is a much better place for all of that bulky Ford wiring. Might be getting all of the extra holes welded up tonight... maybe.. My welder friend isn't the most timely. I also fitted the hood, plastic splash guards and the fenders to check clearances. I also put the nose piece on as well just to make sure the aftermarket fenders are going to fit. I left the fenders connected to the nose after looking things over and hung the assembly from the rafters because space is tight around here. I mounted the old driver door to check some of the electrical. I had found some stout door solenoids that are factory to something.. they were able to unlatch the door just fine. Time to sit on the love seat in the garage with the dog and watch some TV. Till next time.

Project update, ok well from last month...
Here are some pics of the work I am doing. This has been a total single man show with almost all of the resources needed.
This is the current stage... Well kinda Ill add more pics later.
This taken after engine and subframe removal. Took the pair out from the bottom without a hoist. It can be done and its not all that hard.
This is one of the 3+ pile of parts I have in my office waiting to be installed.
A moment before the removal
Just after the removal. Not the cleanest under there. Soon to follow is new inner fender aprons without all of the holes and a relocating of wiring harness and fluid hard lines. Got to tidy things up!

The history of my SSP Mustang
This mustang was purchased by the state of Oregon in 1985 along with 15 or so others. The total numbers are really unknown as the state cannot confirm their records. The cars arrived sometime in 1986 to be used in service. Oregon State police outfitted the cars in various equipment packages. Some were fully loaded with all the bells and whistles and some were very well unmarked.
My SSP was outfitted in a white exterior with the side molding painted black. It would of had a McDermott lightbar with a single red and blue light mounted on the roof. In-between the light on the roof also were mounted two radio antennas. There was another antenna mounted on the left side quarter panel. Would have looked something like this while in service. Hell, this might be my actual car. There is no sure way to confirm yes or no. I got this image from SSP Mustang Org a great place to look at the history of mustangs in service use.
The Beginning
This is a blog about my 1986 Mustang SSP. I had started a "Cardomain" profile some time ago. But, like other people I have talked with that site has gone to the ad ferry's. Enough with the bla bla...
